ASKED & ANSWERED

Why Little Powers?

Little Powers is a mashup of two maiden names borrowed from two formidable women – one who knows me more than most, and one who I never had the opportunity to know well; my mom and my paternal grandmother. Together, they represent the beating heart of family, the celebration and preservation of femininity, the subtle ache of nostalgia, and the simple wonders of life well lived.

Who do you love to work with?

My favorite clients are the ones with offbeat ideas who trust me creatively, who share my openness, and who want to roll up their sleeves & get their hands dirty together. If this sounds like you, let's chat!

How much will my project cost, and how long will it take?

No two clients or projects are alike, so it's impossible to answer these questions without getting to know you and your project better. Each project is custom, so the pricing and timeline will depend on your ambitions. We'll work out the details following an initial consultation, and you'll receive a tailored proposal with key dates and dollar figures. To get the ball rolling, reach out so I can get to know you and your project better!

We're on a budget. Can you still help us?

The likely answer is yes, absolutely! Every situation is different, and there are usually a range of options for every budget.

That said, custom work is an investment. So especially when it comes to weddings, it really depends on where you want to spend your budget. Is it the food and drink? A live band? If so, you might seriously consider a templated design from Minted or a similar stationery service. They offer beautiful designs, and the price point will allow you to invest more in the aspects you’re most passionate about. But if your vision is a deeply personal suite of paper goods that will delight your guests, build anticipation for your big day, and reflect you in a way that no template ever could, then get in touch and let’s talk about what we can create together, within your budget.

When should we get started?

The sooner your project is on my radar the better, so I can slate it in with other ongoing work. Here are some rough guidelines on timing to get us started out on the right foot:

  • Save the dates can take 4-6 weeks to design and assemble, and they should be mailed 8-10 months in advance of your wedding day.

  • Invitations can take 4-6 weeks to design and assemble, and should be sent 8-12 weeks in advance of your wedding day.

  • We should get started on any day-of materials 4-6 weeks before your big day to allow ample time for design and assembly.

  • Lettering and illustration projects typically take 2-4 weeks.

  • Logo and branding projects typically take 4-6 weeks.

Where do you draw inspiration?

I have a very strong sense of place, which is to say I find a piece of myself and leave a piece of myself everywhere I visit. I'm deeply inspired by the people, objects, and experiences I collect along the way–Art Deco curtains in a South Beach hotel, weathered blue shutters sheltering an outbuilding in the South of France, the Caribbean rainbow of harbor buildings in Grenada, the wild lupine sprinkled across Iceland.

My designs draw from my experiences, which is why I'm always looking ahead to the next adventure, crossing domestic and international borders, and trying to move beyond my local bubble.

What else can you do?

The sky’s the limit! I've designed invitation suites for weddings, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, and graduations, as well as birth announcements, moving announcements, and holiday cards. I can help with smaller stuff like coasters, napkins, custom glassware, wax seals, and rubber stamps, as well as bigger ticket items like painted signs and framed prints. I also love digging into larger projects like illustration series and small business branding. If you don't see what you're looking for in this list, don't worry – either I've done it, or we can work on something new together!

Credit where credit is due! The photos featured on this site are a mix of ones taken by yours truly and ones borrowed with gratitude from several photographers who have beautifully captured my work at client weddings.
